The pharmaceutical industry develops new and more efficient active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in its research and development centers. Time to market is one of the most important requirements for new pharmaceutical products, especially for new active ingredients. Fast and reliable planning and project implementation strategies are crucial for the timely creation of the corresponding production capacities and the successful, quality-oriented market launch of new drugs. Pre-planned, prefabricated and flexible plant concepts enable fast and flexible pharmaceutical production under cGMP conditions.
The presentation gives an overview of the fast and flexible planning approach of Glatt's engineering division for both chemical and biotechnological API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) projects as well as pharmaceutical dosage forms or drug end products.
Pre-planned and proven plant modules, so-called "layout typicals" and a selection of standardized building structures are used to develop a fast and "first-time-right" plant concept. The modular approach for both the process plant and the layout/building concept is visualized and explained using project examples for the different module levels and project goals.
