Todays, traceability matrices are used as an important tool for planning and tracking commissioning and qualification activities.
Every quality-relevant requirement for a system or efined in the User Requirement Specification (URS) should be checked and confirmed as part of the qualification process. For this, it is advantageous to use the integrated commissioning and qualification (iC&Q) approach.

Traceability matrices assign the individual user requirements (URS) to the tests respectively test plans (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ) carried out as part of the qualification. This means that at the end of a qualification project, it is possible to trace which requirement was tested in which test and whether all requirements were actually implemented.
As the intensity or depth of the qualification depends on the respective quality risk, the risk analysis should also be included in the traceability matrices.
