Since the public release of ChatGPT at the end of 2022, generative AI has been on everyone's lips. Whether for texts, audiovisual content, medical research, or weather forecasting, artificial intelligence is applied everywhere. Applications are being developed and improved at an impressive speed, while investments in the technology grow exponentially. This presentation aims to provide an initial overview and encourage an approach to this forward-looking topic not with fear, but with curiosity and motivation. In addition to demonstrations of various applications, practical examples for the workday and pioneering questions for the future will also be presented. Furthermore, the ethical aspects and societal significance of generative AI technologies will be addressed to promote a holistic understanding of their potential and challenges.
