Based on the basic functional principle of a tribometer, a test rig is presented for imprinting reproducible load collectives and for recording the particle emission behaviour of material pairings, both under atmospheric and moisture-reduced ambient conditions. The cleanroom-compatible friction particle test rig that has been realised allows the time-resolved, cross-contamination-free determination of the number of particles and their fraction sizes that are generated during the frictional loading of a material pairing under cleanroom and dryroom conditions. In the development of the method for the cleanliness-related evaluation of the particle emission of material pairings, a clear evaluation of the dry cleanroom suitability of material pairings is achieved through the combination of mathematical cumulation and regression methods. The developed test rig and the evaluation method are presented with regard to the fulfilment of the requirement profile.
