Top hygienic design and safe EMC technology combined in one cable gland
HÜCKESWAGEN - In challenging applications in which design and safety play major roles, PFLITSCH's blueglobe TRI CLEAN Plus cable gland is an impressive piece of equipment in today's super-advanced technological environment. This high-quality, stainless-steel cable gland has been developed in line with the latest Hygienic Design principles and EMC regulations, features exceptional attenuation properties up to Cat. 7A and has won the "iF DESIGN AWARD". With this product, PFLITSCH offers a solution that already meets tomorrow's requirements today.
High-quality EMC cable glands from PFLITSCH ensure reliable, 100% shielding around the entire cable entry from the word go. In the case of the blueglobe TRI CLEAN Plus, electromagnetic compatibility isn’t the only important aspect – hygienic design is just as crucial. This is because this product series, made of AISI 316L (1.4404) stainless steel, has an attractive, very smooth surface (roughness Ra < 0.8 μm) and rounded contours to the spanner flats. The blueglobe TRI CLEAN Plus is very compact and low-profile, partly because it’s screwed on flush, i.e. it sits snugly against the surface of the enclosure without any of its thread visible. Technical features include compliance with the exacting protection ratings IP 68 and IP 69, PFLITSCH’s standard, large sealing insert that provides exemplary cable protection and the better-than-average strain relief that prevents the cable from slipping out of the cable gland. For its sealing inserts and grommets, PFLITSCH uses plastics that comply with FDA 21 CFR § 177.2600 and are suitable for contact with foodstuffs in accordance with EU Regulation 10/2011. Easy to install and safe, too
Thanks to its patented TRI spring, the blueglobe TRI CLEAN Plus guarantees process reliability and yet can still be easily installed. This is because the cable sheath only needs to be removed at the contact point. Once the cable has been pushed through the TRI gland, the triangular spring wraps itself tightly around the shielding braid. This ensures greater contact reliability, because PFLITSCH mechanically separates the shielding from the seal.
The design of the TRI spring prevents it from becoming caught in the shielding braid during assembly or disassembly. At the same time, its geometry ensures low-impedance and durable 360° contact with the cable shielding over a large area. This even applies to out-of-round and off-center cables.
Exceptional RF attenuation properties
Since the cable shielding is not expanded and is only applied at the contact point in the control cabinet enclosure, these EMC cable glands provide above-average attenuation values of over 80 dB at 100 MHz and 65 dB at 1,000 MHz. As a result, the TRI cable gland is approved for applications up to Cat. 7A.
In addition to RF attenuation, the current-carrying capacity - i.e. the ability of a component to carry a certain continuous current - is an important criterion for an EMC cable gland. Here, too, the blueglobe TRI is an impressive solution, achieving a higher current-carrying capacity in tests than the shielded cable.
The blueglobe TRI CLEAN Plus is available in sizes M12 to M40, for cables with cross-sections ranging from 5 mm to 29 mm. The cable glands satisfy the demanding requirements of protection ratings IP 68 (up to 15 bar) and IP 69, and of NEMA Enclosure Type 4X. They are approved as standard for a temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C, but are also available in an HT version with a range from -55 °C to +180 °C.
