Hospital planning with a sure instinct
Lorenz Consult ZT GmbH

Lorenz Consult won the general planning competition for the general refurbishment of the surgery at Graz University Hospital back in 2008 as a joint venture with the architectural firm Markus Pernthaler. In particular, they are responsible for the GP coordination, the HVAC as well as the statics and structural design.

The renovation began in 2010 and is divided into three construction phases until 2022. The first construction phase - a new building costing around 120 million euros directly adjacent to the existing surgery building - has already been completed. The second construction phase, with an investment of around 60 million euros, consists of the fundamental general refurbishment and extension of the high-rise surgery building (C wing). "Our targeted measures enable us to maintain ongoing hospital operations," explains Christian Lorenz. CEO Prof. Dr. Karlheinz Tscheliessnigg also appreciates this: "We would like to thank Lorenz Consult for their expertise, their understanding and their incredible willingness to solve problems, tackle them and get them out of the way."

Clients such as Steiermärkische Krankenanstalten GmbH can rely on Lorenz Consult to be a one-stop store, allowing them to place everything in the capable hands of one competent partner. It doesn't always have to be the big projects that the civil engineering firm from Graz implements with targeted coordination of the organizational structure. "Our team also specializes in small units such as primary care centers with a size of 200 to 300 m²," explains DI Christian Lorenz.

Lorenz Consult's core competence in cleanroom planning for GMP pharmaceuticals, food and electronics is a further advantage. The progress of the pharmaceutical processes runs parallel to the cleanroom planning and construction progress.

Satisfaction during planning, implementation and operation is a key criterion. Sometimes conflict management is required, in which the joy of doing things is not ignored, because: "We still talk to each other," says Christian Lorenz.
