Since 2003, five major expansion stages and several small projects - always during ongoing operations - have been implemented with Lorenz Consult. After the group has approved the investment in June 2019, planning and submissions to the authorities have been completed so far that excavation work could be started in September 2020. Completion is scheduled for 2023.
This expansion stage will enable Lactosan to double its current production capacities in the final stage of expansion.
"In the past years Lorenz Consult has registered an increasing number of inquiries from the feed and food industry", informs DI Christian Lorenz, Managing Director of Lorenz Consult from Graz. The cross-contamination-free production in a factory requires exactly defined and sophisticated flows of goods and personnel. "The wide range of services and competence of Lorenz Consult is the basis of our cooperation. At Lorenz Consult we are prepared to go to the limits of what is feasible in the uncompromising planning and implementation of concepts, if it serves the project", Dr. Hans Peter Lettner, Managing Director at Lactosan, describes it.
In order to save investment and energy costs in later operation, room-in-room concepts are often implemented. The required conditions are not needed in every area of the manufacturing process. "When constructing these rooms, the challenge lies in the required quality and tightness. This is what the building supervision authorities must focus on," emphasizes DI Christian Lorenz.
The room requirements correspond in some areas to those of clean rooms in the pharmaceutical industry. So it pays off that Lorenz and his team have already implemented numerous projects in this sector.
Lactosan has made a name for itself as a specialist and service provider and has continuously invested in the company's future-oriented site with buildings for production, laboratories, technical and social rooms, offices including the necessary periphery for wastewater and waste management.
All of this is done during ongoing operations, always with the expertise for state-of-the-art plants and Factory 4.0 with digitalization from Lorenz Consult.
The fermentation and freeze drying lines will be expanded with expansion stage 6. This should enable us to meet the continuously increasing demand in the coming years. Already in the planning phase the digital twins for construction, TGA and the production plants were built using BIM technology. Collisions in areas with high line density could thus be detected and eliminated at an early stage. This saves time and costs.
