Quarantine CAPE
Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA

With the CAPE®-system (Clean and Protective Environment), scientists at the Fraunhofer IPA have developed a tent-like cleanroom system that can be used to create a cleanroom environment cost-effectively, quickly and flexibly.

The current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic prompted further development of the existing system. In the event of a pandemic, it is particularly important to act quickly and locally. The separation of healthy and infected persons is crucial.
One solution provides the one-person quarantine system »Quarantine-CAPE«. Similar to the original CAPE®-system, it is a tent-like room enclosure that can be set up and put into operation within minutes. By using a flow-permeable, textile multi-layer system made of sterilizable and decontaminable materials, a tridirectional barrier effect can be achieved. The new system simultaneously protects patients, the environment and nursing and medical staff, and prevents contamination from spreading between the interior and exterior areas.
