WEIDMANN MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY AG SALTILLO/ MEXIKO - TURNKEY ISO8-REINRAUM (PROJECT DURATION: 1 YEAR)

NETZER GROUP: LEADING IN THE AREAS OF CORPORATE CULTURE, TECHNOLOGY, PROCESSING AND OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY.

The NETZER GROUP has made a name for itself as a sought-after partner for global players such as Weidmann Medical Tech-nology AG, headquartered in Switzerland. The company needed an 800 m² ISO8 cleanroom for the production of diagnostic products at its Mexican site in Saltillo. The implementation period was tight and the task as general contractor was compre-hensive - from the 3D laser survey of the building, the inventory of all supply media including assessment and an imple-mentation of the required infrastructure, through to the turnkey ready-to-operate system.

In order to meet these unusually tight completion requirements, NETZER GROUP planned the technical centers of the cleanrooms in turnkey modules. These are commissioned in advance, tested and then simply integrated on site. However, due to the space available in the production hall and the time factor, the technical centers were housed in shipping containers. The modules were pre-assem-bled and implemented in the containers ready for operation and then integrated directly in Mexico. This method ensures the highest quality and speed – one year from order placement to turnkey handover of the plant. A strategy that paid off in full. Both time and budget targets were met with pinpoint accuracy.

The production site in Saltillo, Mexico, is an important part of Weidmann Medical Technology’s global presence. The new ISO8 cleanroom was implemented by the NETZER GROUP using proven smart cleanroom technology and integrated into the existing building during ongoing production operations. A NETZER GROUP cleanroom goes into operation immedi-ately without any additional interfaces or assembly work. The basis for this is enormous planning knowledge and a great deal of experience.

For the NETZER GROUP, as a general contractor, new challenges arose due to the overseas logistics, the legal conditions for international projects, the external service providers from Mexico, etc. The company gained even more experience, as well as recognition from the customer. This comprehensive know-how guarantees the NETZER GROUP a leading position in cleanroom technology.

Main sales markets are currently in the DACH region and Latin America. With the planning of its own production facilities in the most important world markets, the NETZER GROUP is becoming a strong engineering partner – no matter where you are in the world, and whether you operate in the pharmaceutical, electronics, automotive or food industries.

What are ISO8 cleanrooms? There are a total of nine ISO classes for cleanrooms. ISO8 is the second highest. For example, ISO8 requires that only up to 3.5 million airborne particles with a maximum size of 0.5 μm may be present per cubic meter. 1 μm corresponds to one thousandth of a millimeter. A few compar-isons to get an idea of the size: on average it is 60 μm for human hair, 5 μm for a dust particle, 0.5 μm to 2 μm for a bacterium. However, in a cleanroom it is not only the defined concentration of suspended particles that counts but also the ability to precisely control cleanliness-relevant parameters such as temperature, humidity and pressure. This high level of control requires special know-how and a great deal of experience in dealing with cleanroom technology. The air exchange rate in an ISO class 8 cleanroom is considerable: the entire air in the room must be changed 10 to 25 times per hour. This is the only way to maintain such a low particle count.
