Industrial tablet for the cleanroom - Zebra ET51
Systec & Solutions GmbH

Systec & Solutions GmbH offers you a further variant of the cleanroom tablet. In addition to the two commercially available tablets Microsoft Surface Pro and Apple iPad Pro, we have made an industrial tablet from the manufacturer Zebra suitable for use in cleanrooms.

Why an industrial tablet?
Industrial tablets offer numerous advantages for manufacturing companies. In addition to the possibility of mobile use, they are more robust and less sensitive to temperature than conventional tablets. However, the long-term availability of components and longer life cycles make them particularly interesting for the regulated industry. In contrast to a Microsoft Surface or Apple iPad, they are also compatible with various operating systems, meaning that Android or IGEL OS can be used in addition to Windows. The latter enables integration into an IGEL infrastructure and therefore centralized and secure administration of the IT landscape.

Why a conventional industrial tablet is not a good idea in a cleanroom
Industrial tablets are particularly suitable for use in harsh environments. However, due to their design, they are not cleanroom-compatible. In cleanrooms, easy and complete cleanability and disinfectability are particularly important. Surface materials and a bead- and edge-free design play a decisive role. Plug contacts and operating elements must also be designed in such a way that they can be cleaned in accordance with regulations and that neither dirt nor liquids can enter and damage the device. Conventional industrial tablets are not designed for daily cleaning with aggressive agents, which may even invalidate the warranty.

How can the advantages of an industrial tablet be utilized in the cleanroom?
To enable you to benefit from the advantages of an industrial tablet in the cleanroom, we have developed a suitable stainless steel housing (1.4401) for the ET51 industrial tablet from Zebra. It is completely enclosed, has no beading or edges and complies with IP65. To enable you to work in a cleanroom-compliant environment, it is equipped with the flush-mounted and easy-to-clean CLEANROOM CONNECTOR, which enables power and data transfer via a magnetically dockable cable. The on/off switch and volume buttons can be operated from the front of the tablet. An additional protective glass protects the multi-touch display.

How can the industrial tablet be ergonomically integrated into the cleanroom?
The sensitivity of the 10" multi-touch display can be adjusted so that the tablet can be operated with various cleanroom gloves. Alternatively, a stainless steel cleanroom stylus is available. In addition, a holder can be selected that allows the tablet to be placed on a table or mounted on the wall. Thanks to the standardized VESA drilling pattern (75x75 mm), the holder can also be attached to standard support arm systems. The holder can be attached in such a way that the tablet can be used either with a screen angle of approx. 30° or approx. 60° as required. Once the tablet has been fixed in place using the clamping device, the user can operate it safely without it slipping or charge it if necessary.
