Energy efficiency in the cleanroom

Sustainability and energy efficiency in cleanrooms are becoming increasingly important. This topic is nothing new for SCHMIDT Technology, as we have been developing products and solutions to optimise flow measurement in cleanrooms for decades.

The DIN EN ISO 14644-16 standard on Energy efficiency of cleanrooms and clean air equipment has been in existence for several years. A full 35 % to 50 % of total HVAC consumption in cleanrooms is caused by air circulation fans. Up to 80 % of the total energy is consumed for the production of high-purity air.

High energy savings can be realised by intelligently designing the flow monitoring system, particularly when ensuring the overpressure cascade. During downtimes, the consumption of clean air can be significantly reduced if the overflow is realised with the SCHMIDT SS 20.400 flow sensor with bidirectional flow measurement and direction detection.
