Alcohols such as propan-2-ol or ethanol are widely used in contamination control in pharmaceutical processes.

Interestingly, products may claim different efficacy against fungi for identical formulations of 70 % (v/v) propan-2-ol, i.e. levurocidal efficacy or fungicidal efficacy.
We investigated the impact of cultivation of A. brasiliensis established in EN 1650 in 2013 compared to previous versions of EN 1650. Data revealed significant differences for efficacy of 70 % (v/v) propan-2-ol against A. brasiliensis, and no significant differences for 80 % (v/v) ethanol.
