In the following presentation, you will learn how pharmaceutical companies can address current economic and environmental challenges by switching from fossil fuels to electrical energy, with the aim of achieving a CO2-neutral overall balance. Special attention is given to the energy-intensive yet essential processes of producing pure steam and hot WFI, which are still predominantly operated using conventional technologies. The presentation highlights why electrical generation of Pure Steam and WFI is a meaningful alternative and introduces the design and process engineering basics of electrical systems. Finally, the opportunities and challenges of using electrical power to generate these important media will be discussed.
