As in many other fields, AI, VR, and other digital technologies are increasingly being used in the design and planning of cleanrooms. Similarly, the question arises in cleanroom planning as to the actual value and sustainability of these technologies. To address this question, the presentation first outlines the current state of the art and provides several practical examples. Building on this, the advantages and disadvantages of these new technologies are discussed, as well as the extent to which they offer real added value compared to traditional planning approaches. The discussion concludes with an outlook on current research activities and the resulting future potentials.
