Energieeffiziente Produktion, Lagerung & Verteilung von WFI
Energy-efficient production, storage & distribution of WFI

To generate water for injection, or WFI, stills are predominantly used. This energy-intensive process, which is powered by plant steam and therefore by burning fossil fuels is not environmentally friendly nor cost-effective. The membrane based cold generation of WFI emits less carbon and has lower operational costs. In this presentation not only the comparison of hot and cold WFI production will be discussed, the storage and distribution system, which can be realized by storing the WFI at around 80°C or at room temperature will be included. Therefore, the presentation will focus on CAPEX, OPEX and product carbon footprint (PCF) of these production, storage and distribution technologies.
