In recent years, the number of approved ATMPs has grown rapidly, and the scientific development of new technologies has been just as fast.
We can now treat many diseases that were previously a death sentence for patients instead. Yet, ATMPs still reach few patients, for a variety of reasons. We need to change the situation today to bring therapies to the market tomorrow.
How can we make these therapies available to all patients?
- Processes need to be made more efficient to improve yield and safety.
- Tech transfers from clinical/research need to be faster if the right processes are in place from the start.
- Process owners, academia and industry need to work together to achieve a common goal: the recovery of as many patients as possible around the world.
- All these measures also help to reduce the high costs while society and politics work together on new payment solutions.

Collaborative work is needed to ensure that ATMPs can reach many patients in the future.
