In many areas of measurement and automation technology, there is an ongoing trend towards miniaturization and digitalization of sensor technology, including in cleanroom technology. This presentation first describes current requirements for cleanroom technology and derives future trends for the sensor technology used there.

The focus here is on the question of how digital sensors will create added value for the user compared to conventional analog sensor technology. In addition to the trend towards miniaturization and the bundling of several measured variables in one sensor, the digitalization of sensor technology plays a decisive role. The opportunities opened up by the new generation of sensors and how users can benefit from them will be highlighted.
